JanieJill & Bill Tointon, Owners
Born in the horse country of Escondido, California, 6 year old JanieJill received her first mount from her grandfather and has never looked back. Following a move to Colorado at age 12, JanieJill began showing in western and English events and developed a love for classical dressage. By the 1980’s, she was raising, training and showing her own Paint horses in a variety of events, from western pleasure to hunter / jumper classes.
JanieJill met renowned natural horsemanship teacher Buck Brannaman in 1987 and was inspired by learning the techniques of men like Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt. Her commitment to this method soon opened up a career training problem horses for the public. It was through the Buck Brannaman clinics that JanieJill got to know Bill Tointon, though they’d become friends years before through a mutual interest in competitive ski-racing. They discovered the desire to improve their relationships with horses was a common bond as well and the two were married in 2000 with a shared vision for a peaceful ranch existence... and, of course, horses.

Bill's background had been in ranch horses and competitive cutting horses. His father established Tointon Ranches, successful cattle and horse operations in northern Colorado. Bill was raised with an appreciation for good using horses who knew how to work a cow. Through his interests, a love of talented cow horses was reawakened in JanieJill. Having grown up in California during the rise of the reined cow horse, she had witnessed some of the highly trained mounts firsthand.
JanieJill and Bill established the Diamond Double T Ranch shortly after their marriage and equipped it with a small commercial cattle herd and excellent facilities for raising and training well-broke horses. JanieJill and Bill then began looking for a ranch stallion to produce strong, good-minded and beautiful colts.

They found that horse in Blue Fancy Dan, a 15.2 hand blue roan stallion with excellent foundation Quarter Horse bloodlines. “Blue” has the right disposition and conformation to cross with mares of different types, resulting in quiet-minded, structurally strong horses with good feet and legs, pretty heads… and color! To date, Blue is a 100% color producer. His first foals arrived in 2002 and several of his get are available to purchase. Blue himself was unshown due to injury as a young horse, but has recovered and is currently being trained on cattle. Showing his versatility, Blue is also schooled in dressage. You can see more pictures of him on the Sale Barn page as a reference sire.
After her marriage to Bill, JanieJill stopped training horses for the public and began to concentrate on the breeding and raising of the Diamond Double T’s own stock. However, several previous clients still contacted her looking for well-broke, using horses and so a healthy business training and selling a specific type of horse was born.
Bill and JanieJill are the proud parents of two children, Monique and Dillon, and one grandchild, Bryson. The whole family enjoys hanging out with the horses and the catahoulas!

Horses that live at the Diamond Double T Ranch are exposed to a natural herd environment, where they thrive with other animals on terrain with rocks, rivers and streams. Colts stay on pasture with the bulls and cows, and the ranch stallion lives with the mares as they foal out. The ranch facilities are safe and excellent preparation for whatever lies ahead in a colt's life.

Bill enjoys starting the colts and both JanieJill and Bill currently show successfully in reining and reined cow horse. The mission at the Diamond Double T Ranch is to raise and train good-minded, well-broke horses that will be successful as beginners' mounts or as top show horses. Just like people, each horse has a unique personality and deserves to reach its full potential... be it in the dressage arena, ranch horse versatility competition or on the trail. You're invited to check out the program for yourself , see what previous customers have had to say, and contact JanieJill about the type of horse you're looking for.
